Art Classes at Leakesville

May 2021

They often say, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” Here at Leakesville Rehab & Nursing Center, we believe art is an expression of the heart.

We offer a diverse Recreational/Activities Department with programs that accommodate the various needs of our patients and address their needs for self-expression and recreation. We offer various programs that we will feature in future blogs. We believe in a holistic approach to medicine, and we are invested in taking care of our patients’ psychological and emotional needs as well as their medical needs.

Our patients are able to enjoy our art classes once per week, and they most certainly enjoy the socialization with others as well. We know that art helps to renew the mind and allows one to express their feelings. Art also helps to foster one’s cognitive and sensory-motor function. Our patients report that it lifts their spirits and enhances their mood.

From the words of the famous artist, Wassily Kandinsky, “There is no must in art because art is free.” We love our patients and we are all about helping them to gain as much function physically and mentally as possible.

Here at Leakesville Rehab & Nursing Center, we have a saying, “We love what we do and we do what we love!”
